Promotion Programme for an Innovative Approach to Bio-Waste Management through the Pilot Use of Tenebrio molitor

The pilot tested controlled bioconversion of selected plant-based biowaste using Tenebrio molitor larvae. In one rearing unit, approximately 5–7 kg of biowaste were treated, with an average weekly substrate input of about 1 kg. The final guide reports an approximately 70–80% reduction relative to the input mass, around 2–3 kg of fresh larval biomass and frass as an organic by-product. The project produced a practical guide and recommendations for local authorities, public utility companies, farms, educational and research institutions, civil society organisations and green entrepreneurs.
